David Weber, MD, MPH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dr. Weber\u2019s research interests include hospital-associated (nosocomial) infections especially antibiotic-resistant pathogens, surveillance, disinfection and sterilization, nosocomial pneumonia, hand hygiene, and outbreak investigations. Other research interests include new and emerging infectious diseases (Pfiesteria, CJD, Norwalk agent, Candida au<\/em>ris, CRE), infections in child care centers, tuberculosis, and bioterrorist agents.<\/p>\n

Through his roles as medical director of hospital epidemiology and associate chief medical officer of UNC Health Care, Dr. Weber works to prevent hospital-acquired infections in patients and staff at UNC Hospitals.\u00a0 He is the Chair of UNC Hospitals\u2019 Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee. Standing Orders Committee, and Anti-Infectives Subcommittee.\u00a0 He is a Chair of the UNC IRB.\u00a0 He is the Medical Director of the UNC Statewide Program in Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) and NC Department of Health\u2019s TB Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
