Ashley Henderson is an associate professor here at UNC in the division of Pulmonary and Critical Care.\u00a0 When she first moved here (from Texas) in 1996, her plan was to do her 3 year residency and return, but 25 years later she remains at UNC–the school whose medical collaborations and care for patients is second to none.\u00a0 Although she started out in translational and clinical research so she could be on the faculty, her long term goal was to be an educator, and over the years she has held several positions to that aim.\u00a0 In addition to starting with \u201cCC2\u201d, teaching the respiratory block, she helped with the transition to the TEC curriculum both as the respiratory block director and the co-director of medical sciences, and for the last two years has been the co-director of undergraduate medical education for the school of medicine.\u00a0 She also has been the director of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship program for the last 7.5 years, and continues to stay clinically active with the medical ICU, pulmonary consults, her COPD clinic, and as part of the multidisciplinary vasculitis clinic.\u00a0 She\u2019s grateful to never have a boring day at work.<\/p>\n
Dr. Koyal Jain is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the division of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Jain serves as the co-director of undergraduate medical education in the Department of Medicine. She is currently the renal block director for first year medical students at UNC and the program director for the nephrology training program. Dr. Jain has won multiple awards for her undergraduate medical education including foundation phase outstanding director awards, best foundation phase block award and excellence in teaching in basic sciences. She was also selected by the medical student body as the Whitehead lecturer for 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
