Dr. Marshall Fleurant is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in the Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics, Grady Division. He serves as a medical director for the primary care clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. As a Clinician Educator, he oversees medical residents and students in the inpatient wards. He is a clinical preceptor for medical students and residents at the Grady Hospital Primary Care Clinic. Dr. Fleurant\u2019s main interests include trauma-informed care,\u00a0its\u00a0application in improving health access, health disparities and improving primary care for underserved populations, preserving the safety net for the underserved, and strengthening the field of primary care. His publications include a contributed chapter on the book \u201cTectonic Shifts: Haiti Since the Earthquake\u201d and the text\u00a0Trauma-Informed Healthcare Approaches A Guide for Primary Care.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Fleurant received\u00a0his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He completed a general medicine fellowship at Harvard University School of Medicine and\u00a0completed a Master\u2019s in Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health with a focus on Clinical Effectiveness. He has practiced as a\u00a0Clinician Educator at Boston University School of Medicine and worked as a private\u00a0practitioner at\u00a0Kaiser Permanente, The Southeastern Permanente Medical Group.\u00a0Dr. Fleurant hopes to use his experience and interest in underserved populations to affect policy and contribute to improving the quality of care given through primary care while simultaneously improving the practice life of physicians who practice primary care.<\/p>\n
