Norah\u00a0<\/span>Terrault<\/span>, MD, MPH, FAASLD, is shaping how\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>hepatitis B<\/span>\u00a0virus<\/span>\u00a0(HBV), hepatitis C<\/span> virus (HCV),<\/span>\u00a0and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are treated nationally and internationally through her leadership and\u00a0<\/span>groundbreaking<\/span>\u00a0research in the field.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Dr.\u00a0<\/span>Terrault<\/span>\u00a0coedited\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Zakim and Boyer\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Hepatology: A Textbook of Liver Disease<\/span>, 7<\/span>th<\/span><\/span>e<\/span>dition<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 She has\u00a0<\/span>written more<\/span>\u00a0than 330 peer-reviewed\u00a0<\/span>manuscripts<\/span>, editorials, and invited reviews, along with U<\/span>nited\u00a0<\/span>S<\/span>tates<\/span> national guidelines for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B and C. She recently was elected\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>enior\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>ouncilor\u00a0<\/span>on the executive committee of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and will serve as AASLD\u00a0<\/span>p<\/span>resident in 2023.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In addition to HBV,\u00a0<\/span>HCV,<\/span>\u00a0and NASH,\u00a0<\/span>Dr.\u00a0<\/span>Terrault\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0research interests\u00a0<\/span>include fatty liver,\u00a0<\/span>cirrhosis,<\/span>\u00a0and liver transplantation. She has\u00a0<\/span>led<\/span>\u00a0multiple National Institutes of Health<\/span>\u00a0(NIH)<\/span>-funded studies, including the HBV Clinical Research Network (CRN) and NASH CRN.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A dedicated educator, s<\/span>he founded ECHO-Plus, a\u00a0<\/span>telementoring<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>program that\u00a0<\/span>trains<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and supports\u00a0<\/span>primary care physicians in\u00a0<\/span>California<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in treating<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>patients with\u00a0<\/span>hepatitis.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
