He received his MD from Georgetown University and completed further training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago. He received a PhD in Epidemiology from UNC. He formerly served as Medical Director and Principal Clinical Coordinator at the Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence.
