Rebecca Varnell is originally from Winston-Salem, NC. She went to Kenyon College where she studied International Studies and Dance. She became interested in medicine after spending a year on the US-Mexico border studying and working with various non-profit organizations, recognizing the role that physicians can have in patient advocacy and support. Highlights of her time at UNC include participating in CAMPOS, serving as co-leader of Medical Students for Choice, and volunteering as a student provider at the SHAC Gender Affirming Care Clinic.
