Merete grew up in Arlington, Virginia and attended William and Mary for college where she majored in Neurosciences and also obtained a Minor in classical studies. After college, she worked for a year as a scribe in the Emergency Department in Arlington before coming to medical school.\u00a0 As a medical student, she has been actively involved in multiple activities including serving as a coordinator for the student clinic, a volunteer for the street health project, and as a facilitator for the clinical skills course for preclinical students.
