He graduated from The University of Tennessee with a degree in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology and spent a year working in a Genetics lab testing food samples for microbial contamination before matriculating into The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. There he excelled as a medical student, serving as a curriculum committee member for the College of Medicine, founding a pathology interest group, engaging in a student-led initiative to discuss racial biases both in society and within the context of healthcare, and helping moderate a Crisis Medicine elective series at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0 He was recognized for his achievements by induction into the AOA Honor Society and was awarded the Faculty Medal for Academic Achievement.\u00a0In his free time, Jacob is known for hosting \u201cpizza Fridays\u201d and \u201cpancake Saturdays\u201d for his family and friends.
