Gabe attended UT Austin where he graduated with a degree in Health and Society. After college, Gabe worked for two years with the Americorps program in Denver, teaching elementary school children at an underserved school with primarily Spanish-speaking students. As a medical student, Gabe has continued with his commitment to caring for the underserved with the student clinic, serving as a mentor to elementary school children in the area, and working with an Interprofessional Continuity of Practice Program to support a patient centered and education centered medical home. Gabe has also been actively involved in research at MD Anderson, focusing on immune checkpoint inhibitors in the field of GI medicine. In recognition of his outstanding academic performance, Gabe was inducted into the AOA Honor Society.
