CAMPOS (Comprehensive Advanced Medical Program of Spanish)

CAMPOS is an enrichment program to entering medical students who have intermediate to advanced Spanish fluency. This program is one strategy to address a critical need in the state of NC: a shortage of linguistically and culturally competent physicians caring for the growing number of Latino patients.

Students have the opportunity to take an immersion elective over the first two years, in addition to being in the community with Latino populations. During your 3rd and 4th year roations, you can also request to be placed in UNC and AHEC sites that primarily see Spanish-speaking populations. Please visit the website for details of the CAMPOS curriculum over the four years of medical school:

There are many opportunities for UNC School of Medicine students to engage in local and international activities to promote health careers awareness and opportunities for Hispanic youth, as well as interact with the communities to provide health knowledge.
