Sergio Acero (March 29, 1988 – March 1, 2014)

News release:

Family, friends, and colleagues,

It brings us great sadness to share the sad news of the passing of UNC School of Dentistry student, Sergio Acero. Unfortunately, Sergio succumbed to injuries sustained in a single vehicle motorcycle accident on Saturday morning.

To some of us, Sergio was more than a classmate or colleague, he was a friend and even a brother. He formed many friendships with our medical school classmates as an undergraduate student at UNC, an MED 2008 alumnus, and while working as an Office Assistant in the Office of Special Programs.

Sergio was someone who never ceased to make people feel happy and he always wore a big smile. Those who were fortunate to know Sergio will truly miss his energetic spirit, adventurous personality, funny sense of humor and zest for life. Although he will forever remain in our hearts, he will be missed dearly.

Please keep Sergio’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Sergio, we love you and will forever miss you.
