Business Office Services
The MHI Business Office provides a wide variety of services to our research customers. Some of our primary services include: Pre-Award services, Post-Award administration, and Human Resources services. These services are offered to all MHI Faculty, researchers, staff, and Directors who choose to administer their research accounts in our department.
Pre-Award Services
- Review of submission guidelines
- Budget preparation and assistance
- Gathering of all required documentation
- Entry into specialized systems (Grants.gov, AHA)
- Electronic routing of proposals (Ramses)
- Interface with OSP, OSR
- Tracking of due dates, progress reports
Post-Award Services
- Review of award guidelines
- Assistance with initial award / account setup
- Transfer of existing funding / relinquishing statements
- Detailed personnel forecasting
- Expenditure monitoring, compliance monitoring (OMB Circulars)
- Monthly reconciliation and reports
- Quarterly meetings to review progress, funding, hiring, submissions
- Reimbursement and order processing (Travel, AP/AR)
Human Resources Services
- Review of staffing requirements
- Assistance with position establishment and recruitment
- Assistance with transfer of personnel
- Temporary hires, students
- International center coordination (H1-B, J-1 visa preparation)
- Salary administration and departmental equity
- Payroll administration, Time Information Management
- Effort Reporting (PARS)
- Employee relations, on-site mediation services
- Assistance with performance management process (WPPR)
- Attendance at quarterly meetings
