This advanced surgical microscope and imaging system will significantly enhance precision and visualization in microsurgery procedures and training, supporting MHI\u2019s mission to advance cardiovascular science through innovation and technical excellence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.acs.org\/journal\/aamick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5273 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/mhi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/525\/2025\/09\/Applied-Materials-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"ACS Applied Materials &amp; Interfaces \" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/mhi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/525\/2025\/09\/Applied-Materials-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/mhi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/525\/2025\/09\/Applied-Materials.jpg 298w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Dr. Zaw&#8217;s research article was co-authored by University of Waterloo researchers, Drs. Dency David, Joshua Kunihiro, Yuan Yao, and Evelyn K. F. Yim. The paper explores how micro- and nano-scale substrate topographies influence vascular smooth muscle cell behavior under inflammatory conditions \u2014 an important step toward developing advanced biomaterials for cardiovascular applications.
