Living in the “Triangle”
The University campus is the heart of the Chapel Hill community, which is currently comprised of about 62,000 residents. Chapel Hill offers an unusual blend of small-town atmosphere and cosmopolitan sophistication. Its mild winters and location, approximately 250 miles south of Washington, D.C., and midway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachian Mountains, offer unlimited potential for recreation.
The “Triangle” area of Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh is most famously known for its three outstanding research universities (UNC-CH, Duke & NC State University) and the renowned Research Triangle Park (RTP). The area is also recognized for its convenient location, temperate climate, stable job market, cultural diversity and family-friendly atmosphere, which has drawn transplants from across the nation and around the world.
