Ralph Baric and Mark Heise have been awarded a five-year, $21.4M NIAID grant entitled “System immunogenetics of biodefense pathogens in the Collaborative Cross.” The work will focus on understanding host responses to SARS coronavirus, pandemic influenza viruses, and West Nile virus, taking advantage of a mouse genetic reference panel that reflects genetic variation in natural human populations.
