Dr. Damania discussed “Viruses and Cancer” at the 23rd Annual Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium in November. The goal of the symposium is to bring together “future leaders in science” from a wide variety of disciplines to encourage engagement and dialog across scientific fields. A committee from the National Academy of Sciences selects speakers who are 45 years old or younger and have already made significant scientific contributions to their area of expertise. The Daminia lab focuses on pathogenesis of Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and viral oncogenes.
