Bob Twarog, 1936-2019
I’m sorry to relay the sad news that Bob Twarog passed away on Thursday, January 3rd. Bob was a highly respected and beloved member of the M&I faculty from 1965-2000. He investigated basic enzymology and biosynthetic processes in a number of bacteria, including studies of the molecular pathogenesis of Haemophilus ducreyi. Bob was heavily involved in teaching at all levels, and was a major participant in the department’s early efforts to recruit and train minority graduate students. He also helped promote the use of computer assisted learning programs for self-teaching programs for medical and other student groups.
