I am interested in studying molecular mechanisms of viral gene regulation and identifying small molecules that target KSHV lytic reactivation. I mainly investigate the modulation of a major viral transcription factor (Rta), that induces lytic reactivation in KSHV. Rta is heavily phosphorylated and I work on understanding the molecular mechanisms through which post translational modification of this viral transcription factor affects its function at target promoters.
