After seven years on the UNC faculty, M&I Associate Professor Tony Richardson has moved to the University of Pittsburgh. Tony has been an integral part of the Department’s growth and activity in the area of microbial pathogenesis His research on Staphylococcus aureus is wide-ranging, spanning immunometabolism to pathogen evolution. His work has been recognized with many grants and awards, including his selection as a Pew Scholar in the Biomedical Sciences in 2011. During this same time frame, Tony’s wife Andrea earned her Ph.D. from UNC’s School of Public Health, and it was her recruitment to an exciting new job in Pittsburgh that prompted Tony to look for a new home for his laboratory and family. We’ll always think of Tony as part of our M&I family and will miss him as a colleague, teacher, and friend.
