A study recently published in Science illustrates important relationships between inflammation, gut microbiota, and tumorigenesis. This work from Christian Jobin’s lab demonstrates that inflammation-induced changes in the microbiota of mice are linked to the development of colorectal cancer. Lead author of the paper was Janelle Arthur, a former M&I graduate student, and current M&I student Sarah Tomkovich was a co-author.
