The summer months are a busy time for research conferences, and M&I has been well-represented in the programming of a wide variety of international meetings:
Blossom Damania was invited to speak at the Second International Symposium on Viral Strategies of Immune Evasion (Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig, Germany).
Beth Shank and Stephani Page (graduate student, Bourret lab) were invited to present their research at the Gordon Research Conference on Sensory Transduction in Microorganisms (Ventura, California).
Ralph Baric was invited to speak at the 33rd Annual Meeting of the American Society for Virology (Colorado State University campus, Fort Collins) and at the XVIth International Congress of Virology, a part of the meeting of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (Montreal).
Rita Tamayo and Ed Miao were invited to present their work at the Gordon Research Conference on Microbial Toxins & Pathogenicity (Waterville Valley, New Hampshire). Virginia Miller has been elected to be the next Chair of this biannual meeting.
Barbara Vilen was invited to speak at the FASEB Summer Research Conference on Immunoreceptors (Steamboat Springs, Colorado).
Cary Moody was invited to present her research at the Molecular Biology of DNA Tumor Viruses Conference (Madison, Wisconsin).
David Margolis, Myron Cohen, and Victor Garcia were invited to speak at the 20th International AIDS Conference (Melbourne). Dave was quoted in the New York Times after attending a dinner filled with tributes to Joep Lange and others who were tragically killed when Malaysia Airlines flight 17 was shot down over Ukraine (http://tinyurl.com/lgxvhwl).
