As an undergraduate, she participated in the UNC SMART program beginning her journey in research studying plant-microbiome interactions with Dr. Jeff Dangl. Izabella joined Dr. Lakshmanane\u2019s lab after graduation focusing on molecular biology and protein production for arbovirus and coronavirus diagnostics and vaccine research. She is currently taking a gap year and pursuing her research interests as she prepares for medical school.
