We can answer a variety of questions

  • Consultation on diagnoses, medication, and psychotherapy interventions for a wide range of perinatal mental health needs (e.g. mental health care guides, screening forms)
  • Guidance on behavioral health issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, intimate partner violence, and substance use
  • Connection with community resources
  • Information on government programs (e.g. enrolling families for WIC, Medicaid for Pregnant Women)
  • Referral to telepsychiatry services (if appropriate)

Our goal is for the patient to remain in the care of their current provider

NC MATTERS does not prescribe to patients or provide ongoing care. If the perinatal psychiatrist recommends further evaluation, they will schedule the patient for a one-time psychiatric assessment with a member of the NC MATTERS team, or will provide a community referral. If treating the patient is beyond the scope of the calling provider, our team will help find resources for the provider to share with the patient.
