Some patients may be appropriate for a one-time psychiatric assessment for the purposes of consultation with the calling provider. Eligible patients are contacted by staff from the UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders<\/a> to make a virtual appointment. Providers will not prescribe medications to the patient and will not provide ongoing care past this initial visit.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the appointment, the psychiatric provider will send a detailed written assessment that will include treatment recommendations to the provider. They will also be available for further consultation as requested by the calling provider. If ongoing care is beyond the scope of the calling provider, NC MATTERS staff will work with them to locate appropriate resources for the patient.<\/p>\n
