Shadowing Requests for Clinical Services
All Shadowers must be accredited with the volunteer office, including completion of the necessary OSHA and HIPPA training. No requests will be considered prior to this process being completed.
Once you are a registered hospital volunteer, please make a shadowing request to the clerkship director, Dr. Michael Wang. Requests must be made at least one week before the date of the request. A request does not guarantee placement. Please let Dr. Wang know of any specific areas of interest. The coordinator will monitor the number of students who are with a provider for a clinic, inpatient or outpatient session. We will do our best to accommodate requests; however we must balance requests with physician availability and medical student requirements, therefore we request that no requests be sent to individual faculty.
All shadowers must wear appropriate attire. Men should wear shirt and tie; women should be comparably attired. If in doubt, please review the appropriate attire for medical students and residents online. Please arrive on time and display professional decorum.
The Department of Neurology does not offer a formal observership program for physicians trained outside the US.
