DESCRIPTION:Announcing the JBME-SOM “Speed-Dating” Event!\nSupported by the UNC School of Medicine’s Academic Investment Fund\, the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (JBME) is excited to invite you to our upcoming Interdisciplinary Speed Dating Event. This innovative program aims to spark groundbreaking research collaborations between JBME faculty and researchers from partner departments. \nThis is the first of four planned events with an emphasis on the intersection of engineering with neuroscience and/or rehabilitation. Other themes will be targeted in future rounds. \nDate\nNovember 7\, 2024 (Register by Friday\, 10/25) \nTime\n5:00-7:30 pm; Food will be provided \nLocation\nMary Ellen Jones Building\, Room 3116 \nTheme\nInnovations in Neuroscience and Rehabilitation \nEvent Highlights\n\nLightning Talks: Quick pitches about cutting-edge research from BME\, Neuroscience\, and Rehabilitation faculty.\nOne-on-One Discussions: Engage in rapid-fire conversations to explore potential collaborations.\nFunding Opportunity: Develop ideas that could lead to pilot funding of $37\,000 for your collaborative project!\n\nWhy Participate?\n\nExpand Your Network: Meet potential collaborators from diverse research backgrounds.\nIgnite New Ideas: Combine your expertise with others to tackle complex biomedical challenges.\nSecure Funding & Boost Your Research: Top collaborations will be awarded substantial pilot funding to kickstart their projects and gather preliminary data for larger grant applications.\n\nWho Should Attend?\nAny faculty interested in interdisciplinary biomedical research who feel they could contribute at the intersection of BME and Neuroscience and/or Rehabilitation. \nHow It Works\n\nAttend the event and participate in lightning talks and speed dating discussions.\nFind a collaborator(s) and develop a joint research idea.\nSubmit a very brief 2-page proposal within two weeks after the event.
