DESCRIPTION:UNC Neurology is pleased to host Dr. Rose Boyce MD\, MSc as grand rounds speaker on October 30\, 2025. \nTopic: Tic-Bourne Disease in NC: The Known and Unknown Unknowns \nDr. Boyce is an Associate Professor of Medicine at UNC School of Medicine\, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology\, and a Faculty Fellow for the Carolina Population Center. His areas of interest include vector-borne diseases\, tick-borne diseases\, malaria\, and spatial Epidemiology. \nDr. Boyce’s research focuses on the spatial and clinical epidemiology of malaria and other vector-borne diseases\, particularly in rural\, underserved communities. Current projects include (i) a NIH career development award (K23AI141764) that aims to develop more efficient methods of locating and targeting Anopheles mosquito breeding sites and (ii) a randomized controlled trial of insecticide-treated baby carriers\, known as “lesus” in Uganda\, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. \n\nThe School of Medicine of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.
