{"id":17290,"date":"2023-07-10T16:03:25","date_gmt":"2023-07-10T20:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/neurology\/?p=17290"},"modified":"2023-07-10T16:03:25","modified_gmt":"2023-07-10T20:03:25","slug":"unc-health-unc-medical-center-commits-to-improving-outcomes-for-patients-with-hemorrhagic-stroke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/neurology\/unc-health-unc-medical-center-commits-to-improving-outcomes-for-patients-with-hemorrhagic-stroke\/","title":{"rendered":"UNC Health, UNC Medical Center commits to improving outcomes for patients with hemorrhagic stroke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>UNC Medical Center TJC Comprehensive Stroke Center is among the first to use new American Heart Association hemorrhagic stroke-specific enhancements to the Get With The Guidelines &#8211; Stroke registry <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chapel Hill, North Carolina, <\/strong>May\u00a010, 2023 \u2014 Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in the United States. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stroke.org\/en\/about-stroke\/types-of-stroke\/hemorrhagic-strokes-bleeds\">Hemorrhagic strokes<\/a> make up about 13 percent of the nearly 800,000 strokes that occur annually, and they have a higher mortality rate than other types of stroke.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Launched in February, new hemorrhagic stroke-specific features are now available to Get With The Guidelines<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> &#8211; Stroke participants as part of the American Heart Association\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heart.org\/hemorrhagic\">Hemorrhagic Stroke Initiative<\/a>.
