It is to be awarded to faculty members who have distinguished themselves as leaders in neurology at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. LaRoche was awarded this professorship based on her national reputation for excellence in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology for both clinical patient care and EEG monitoring research.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. LaRoche obtained her MD from Indiana University in 1997 and a Clinical Neurophysiology\/Epilepsy Fellowship and Neurology Residency at Emory University Medical Center in 2003. She completed training in internal medicine in 1998 and obtained further training in adult neurology in 2001 at Emory University Hospital. She began her faculty career in the Department of Neurology at Emory University where she was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012 and Professor in 2021 at UNC-Chapel Hill. While at UNC, she has served as the Interim Division Chief of Epilepsy, the Vice Chair of Community Partnership and Medical Director of EEG lab at Rex Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>UNC Neurology is sincerely grateful to Dr. LaRoche for her enthusiasm, leadership, and unwavering support of the department, her colleagues, and patients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UNC Department of Neurology is pleased to announce Dr. Suzette LaRoche&#8217;s appointment to the Carol Masters Schiller Distinguished Professorship in the UNC School of Medicine, Department of Neurology.
