While there, I worked in the lab of Dr. Alexander Volkov and investigated the electrophysiology of plants, specifically action potentials in the Venus Fly trap.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #4d4d4d; line-height: 1.3em;\">Research<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I joined the Early Brain Development Studies group, under the direction of Dr. John Gilmore, in the spring of 2015. I use structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging to investigate brain growth during the early stages of neurodevelopment of children who are at risk for mental illness.<\/p>\n<h3><a class=\"external-link\" style=\"border-bottom: medium none;\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-inline\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/neuroscience\/curriculum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/778\/2018\/07\/pubmed.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>Activities\/Awards<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Biography I graduated from Oakwood University in 2012 where I received my B.S. in Chemistry and minor in Mathematics.
