Eric Harris, PhD

Dr. Harris has more than 30 years’ experience in ne
uroscience research, including 20 years in the
pharmaceutical industry, with particular emphasis o
n the discovery and pharmacological
characterization of new chemical entities. Dr. Ha
rris developed new in vitro and in vivo models of
neurological diseases, as well as new technology fo
r automating electrophysiology, which led to a
marketed product. He has carried out preclinical wo
rk in several central nervous system
therapeutic areas including epilepsy, stroke, and m
emory, and he has helped to advance
compounds into clinical studies for epilepsy, Parki
nson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and stroke.
He also has extensive experience with electrophysio
logical techniques, neuropharmacology, and ion
channel studies. Dr. Harris has served as a lead sc
ientist and project manager on numerous teams
developing therapies for epilepsy, stroke, pain, an
esthesia, sedation, and depression, focusing in
particular on clinical developmental strategy. He
has experience preparing development plans,
writing and analyzing the data from clinical study
protocols, authoring regulatory documents, and
interacting face-to-face with the Food and Drug Administration.
