We are pleased to announce that Jason Stein will join the UNC Neuroscience Center and Department of Genetics Jan 1, 2016. Jason is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Dan Geschwind at UCLA. Jason received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern, his PhD in Neuroscience at UCLA and has continued at UCLA for postdoctoral training with Dr. Geschwind. He is the recipient of a K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award and has already published more than 40 papers. As a student he played a major role in organizing the ENIGMA consortium. Multiple high profile papers have been published by this group on the role of common genetic variants in determining brain structure. In Dr. Geschwind’s lab, Jason performed a transcriptomic analysis of human neural progenitor cells that has provided a quantitative framework for modeling cortical development. This latter work was published in Neuron, July 2, 2014 and was featured on the cover.
