What’s new in the Department of Neurosurgery

We are pleased to announce the opening of a new Neurosurgery clinic in the Hillsborough Medical Office Building on May 26th. Dr. Kenneth Price will begin seeing patients on Thursdays for the first several weeks, and then on Thursdays and Fridays by the end of the summer.

The Head for the Cure 5K Walk/Run kickoff was held on May 6th after the Tumor Board meeting. Over 20 attendees enjoyed a hot breakfast while the Head for the Cure Board President, Matt Anthony, presented a talk about the mission and goals of the organization.

The Department had a fun dinner gathering of 15 former and current UNC Neurosurgery faculty and residents while attending the AANS meeting in Chicago.

The Department of Ophthalmology co-sponsored a meet and greet luncheon with us on April 21st in honor of Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada, International President of the Lions Club and Japan’s first neurosurgeon. Dr. Yamada was visiting North Carolina to attend the Lions Club State Convention in Raleigh.


Congratulations to Sonja Henretty, RN, BSN! Sonja recently received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Winston-Salem State University. Sonja is a nurse navigator for Drs. Ewend, Collichio, and Brotherton.
