Dr. Jing Wu Presents at Wilson Medical Center’s Cancer Conference

August 23, 2012 -- Jing Wu, MD, PhD, Co-Director of the UNC Brain Tumor Program, delivered a presentation on “Malignant Glioma: Standard Treatment and Beyond” at Wilson Medical Center’s Cancer Conference on August 23.

Dr. Jing Wu provided an overview of the UNC Neuro-Oncology program; reviewed treatment of primary tumors of the Central Nervous System and metastases of the brain and spinal cord; and described current, new and upcoming clinical trials that patients seen by UNC Neuro-Oncology may be eligible to participate in.

Stergios J. Moschos, MD, of the UNC Division of Hematology/Oncology, also presented at the Wilson Medical Center Cancer Conference, providing an Update on Melanoma Brain Metastases.  Dr. Moschos offered statistics related to the occurrence of metastatic brain tumors, the frequency of various tumor types in brain mets (especially melanoma) and shared information on recent updates announced at ASCO on the effectiveness of various therapies for melanoma brain metastases.

In attendance were specialists from Medical & Radiation Oncology, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Pulmonary Medicine, Pathology and others.

Wilson Medical Center is a member of the UNC Cancer Network and hosts a weekly cancer conference (tumor board) in Wilson, NC.
