Dr. Eldad J. Hadar is a professor and the Residency Program Director in the Department of Neurosurgery, joining UNC Healthcare in August 2001. After receiving his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Hadar received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed his surgical internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia then returned to the University of Wisconsin for his residency training in neurosurgery. He then completed two years of fellowship training in epilepsy surgery and functional neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He obtained board certification through the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 2003.<\/p>\n

Since arriving at UNC, Dr. Hadar has been an active member of the neurosurgical service. In addition to his general neurosurgery practice, he serves as director of both the Epilepsy Surgery and Functional Neurosurgery programs and has been a member of the UNC Spine Center since 2002. He has special interest in minimally-invasive spine surgery and in complex spinal reconstruction.<\/p>\n

As a faculty member in the UNC School of Medicine, Dr. Hadar is actively involved in the education and training of medical students and residents, and serves as the Neurosurgery Residency Program Director. He is highly regarded at UNC Healthcare for his extensive education and training accomplishments both at UNC and nationally, and has received numerous teaching awards and honors. Dr. Hadar also serves on numerous multidisciplinary hospital committees focused on the quality and improvement of patient care.<\/p>\n

Outside of UNC, Dr. Hadar is an involved member of the Chapel Hill community and an active mentor with the Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate program through the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. He also enjoys numerous outdoor activities with his wife and two sons.<\/p>\n
