Group prenatal care – such as the CenteringPregnancy model used by UNC Midwives – is favorably recognized by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) issued a March 2018 committee opinion on group prenatal care, acknowledging the CenteringPregnancy model as the most recognized and studied method of group prenatal care.
Research findings from the CenteringInstitute show that CenteringPregnancy lowers the risk of preterm birth, works to equalize the race disparity of preterm birth among black and white women and increases breastfeeding rates.
CenteringPregnancy has been available through the UNC Midwives practice since 2015. Learn more.
