The UNC Center for Maternal and Infant Health was among the first centers in the nation to perform in utero surgery to repair neural tube defects as pilot information for the MOMs trial. The Center supported the NIH study by agreeing to send patients to intervention sites during the trial. With the benefits of this surgery now scientifically demonstrated, the Center is proud to begin to offer this service once again.
