Anna Fleischman, MD

Resident Physician, Class of 2021

Meet Dr. Fleischman

Where did you grow up?
Glendale, Wisconsin
Where did you go to medical school?
University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill
What inspired you to be an OBGYN?
When I was a third year medical student, I fell in love with OBGYN during my clinical rotation. I thought I was destined to do pediatrics, however, after being involved in women’s health and seeing everything this field has to offer my mind was quickly made up that I was meant to be an OBGYN. In medical school, we were paired with an OBGYN Faculty for continuity clinic and my facutly preceptor became my inspiration and I soon established a new goal to be just like her when I grew up, providing well rounded care to women of all ages.
Why did you choose UNC ?
I was amazed at the department as a whole during my time as a medical student. The support that this group of individuals provides each other is just outright amazing and they truly treat each other as family. In addition to this support and love for one other, I knew that the rigorous OB and GYN clinical training that UNC provides would allow for me to become a well trained general OBGYN provider ready to provide amazing evidence based care wherever my career took me. Also, every subspecialty department has leaders in their specific fields and I was excited have these attendings as my teachers and mentors. UNC is the full package (training, mentoring, medical student teaching, etc) and I could not be more thrilled to have matched at UNC.
What you are most excited about during residency?
I am so excited and so fortunate to be working alongside some of the best residents in the country. My co-residents are my family and inspiration to be a better provider, co-worker and friend. I could not do this journey without them. I am also excited to be building my life alongside my husband and new puppy in North Carolina. It is a fantastic state to live in and we have thoroughly enjoyed our time here over the last few years! Last, I am excited to finally be doing what I love: providing excellent care to the women of NC and fulfilling my dreams!
