Instructor, Maternal-Fetal Medicine
As a lifelong Tar Heel, Cindy Hanes completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994. Cindy practiced as a registered nurse in the ICU/CCU setting for several years before completing her Master of Science in Nursing with honors at Vanderbilt University in 2000.
She is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner through the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties. She has more than 12 years of experience practicing as a maternal-fetal medicine provider in both academic and private practice settings. Cindy joined the UNC MFM team in 2013 and coordinates the UNC MFM telemedicine program. In September 2016, she moved her primary location to UNC MFM at Rex. Cindy will work with the MFM faculty to provide consultation and coordination of care for high-risk pregnancies and will continue the successful diabetes in pregnancy program through this office.
