In 1995, Jenny received her BSN from the University of North Carolina’s School of Nursing followed by her Midwifery degree from University of Pennsylvania in 2001. Jenny has practiced midwifery in a community hospital, a freestanding birth center, and an academic medical center. She hopes to bring the best of each of these experiences to UNC. She also is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and loves helping mamas and babies on their path to successful breastfeeding.
My name is Jenny Cox and I am excited to be joining the UNC Midwives. I have practiced midwifery for eight years and don’t remember what it was like NOT being a midwife. I have always been interested in reproductive issues affecting women and was drawn to midwifery as a result. I have practiced midwifery in a community hospital, a free standing birth center, and in an academic medical center – I hope to bring the best of each of these experiences to UNC! I am also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and love helping mamas and babies on their path to successful breastfeeding.
I am a Durham native and live there with my partner of 23 years and our two children. When not taking care of women, you can find me playing with my kids, gardening, and spending time with my abundance of local family.
I look forward to meeting all of the women who come to the UNC midwives for their pregnancy and gynecologic care.
