Resident – Class of 2022

Meet Dr. Silverstein

Where did you grow up?
Buffalo, NY
Where did you go to medical school?
University of Pittsburgh
What inspired you to be an OBGYN?
I’ve always been interested in women’s health and working to rectify health disparities, which led me to OBGYN. Being an OBGYN also gives you an unique opportunity to be there for patients at some of their most vulnerable moments and an opportunity to support patients through experiences and conversations that are typically uncomfortable, awkward, or dreaded. Additionally I knew I wanted a surgical specialty, but didn’t want to give up long term relationships with patients.
Why did you choose UNC ?
After my interview, it was apparent UNC was the fit for me! It combines rigorous training with kind, supportive, fun co-residents, attendings, and staff. The family feel was of the utmost importance to me, and I can’t imagine being surrounded by more inspiring and supportive people.
What you are most excited about during residency?
Taking care of patients and getting to connect with my co-residents! The endless learning and growth.
