Sarah Free earned her first bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech in 2000. After working in the biotech industry for more than ten years, she decided to pursue her dream of a career in midwifery and took the first step by obtaining her BSN from Duke University in 2016. Sarah embraces the midwifery model of care as a means of providing compassionate primary, gynecological, and pregnancy/birth care rooted solidly in the best scientific evidence for women across their lifespans. She believes strongly in empowering patients through education and viewing health from a holistic perspective.

Sarah lives with her husband and children in Durham where she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping, running, biking, or just relaxing in a hammock on the back deck with a good book.
