Professor, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
Dr. Price’s research focuses on newborn intensive care, particularly as it relates to brain and lung development. Throughout his career, he has designed, coordinated, mentored and analyzed a variety of basic science and clinical research projects. He recently directed a multicenter project that created and validated an observation-based scoring system for the severity of chronic lung disease in premature infants.
He also regularly mentors trainees, residents and fellows as they design and complete research projects that focus on neonatal and perinatal health. Some of these have included projects that documented institutional variation in outcomes of late preterm newborns, highlighted transitions in care of infants with Trisomy 13 and 18, and examined the relationship of intraventricular hemorrhage to neurodevelopmental outcome in neonates.
