Dr. Lee will focus on cervical cancer prevention in Malawi.


Dr. Fan Lee, a resident in the UNC OB-GYN Class of 2020, was recently named a 2017 Global Health Scholar by the Office of International Activities.

Dr. Lee completed an undergraduate degree in bioengineering and her medical degree at the University of Washington in Seattle,

She had her first global health experience in Kenya as a volunteer in HIV/AIDS education and later joined her passions for global health and women’s health with a community health project focused on STD and HIV prevention in rural Uganda. Dr. Lee spent a year in Kenya pursuing a research experience with support from the NIH Fogarty International Center focused on cervical cancer screening and dysplasia treatment.

With the Global Health Scholars Program she will focus on cervical cancer prevention in Malawi, with UNC Global Women’s Health faculty Drs. Ben Chi and Jennifer Tang as her mentors.
