Grand Rounds

January 15 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Andrea Lukes, MD, MHSc

Founder and CEO
Carolina Women’s Research and Wellness Center

“A Treatment For The Management of Moderate To Severe Pain Associated With Endometriosis”

Dr. Andrea Lukes is an OBGYN physician who trained at UNC (received the Whitehead Medical School Society Intern Teaching Award). She had received her MD and MHSc at Duke University, and returned to Duke after residency for 10 years.  She helped establish the Women’s Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center and did a large number of clinical trials while at Duke. She then established a private GYN clinic and research center which has completed close approximately 80 clinical trials to date.  This is a sponsored talk by Abbvie – Andrea has used elagolix for over 10 years, she participated in their phase 1 studies – as well as phase 2 and 3 for endometriosis and fibroids.  She has served as a consultant to most of the major pharmaceutical companies on study design in women’s health. She still has her clinical practice and research center, but is now also the chief medical office at Health Decisions – a clinical research organization that specializes in women’s health.
