To assess and monitor the health of your baby, The UNC Fetal Care Center offers state-of-art prenatal evaluation, fetal diagnosis and treatment services to provide an early assessment and accurate diagnosis of your baby’s health. Once a diagnosis has been established, an evidence-based treatment plan, optimal for both baby and mother can be determined. Our supportive staff is available to answer any questions and is there to help you make well-informed decisions regarding your treatment plan and options.

Once a diagnosis is confirmed, the UNC Fetal Care Center works with your obstetrician to discuss options, and to develop a treatment plan which addresses the best possible outcomes for the health of both baby and mother during pregnancy, delivery and beyond birth.
Our maternal-fetal care team is available to answer any questions you may have regarding the diagnosis and treatment options, risks and potential long-term outcomes of treatment options. We work diligently to provide information to help you understand your baby’s diagnosis and the treatment options available. Our multidisciplinary maternal-fetal team offers a variety of treatment options, including prenatal management, drug therapy, preventive therapies, and fetal surgery, if necessary.
The Fetal Care team will collaborate with you to choose the course of treatment that is right for you, your baby and your family. Our team includes genetic counselors, Licensed Social Workers, and other support staff to assist you with the decision-making process. We aim to provide you with the information and support you need to make confident, educated decisions about choosing a treatment plan that is right for you.
The UNC Fetal Care Center physicians are experts in fetal surgery and the treatment of conditions that were once considered life-threatening or only treatable after birth. The UNC Fetal Care Center is a member of The North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNet). The primary goal of NAFTNet is to provide an umbrella organization to assist the various medical centers that practice fetal medicine, to promote cooperation among these centers and to foster research in the field of fetal therapy.
