Associate Professor, Global Women’s Health

Dr. Chinula is an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Division of Global Women’s Health at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and a Clinical Research Site Leader at UNC Project Malawi, a collaboration between UNC and Malawi Ministry of Health. Dr. Chinula completed medical training at University of Malawi College of Medicine and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Cape Town in South Africa. He is a former Fogarty International Clinical Research Fellow and leads UNC Global HIV Clinical Trials Unit Malawi Clinical Research Site participation in HIV prevention and treatment trials and also in NCI AIDS Malignancy Consortium. Dr. Chinula is the UNC Director of Obstetrics and Gynecologic Activities in Malawi, an honorary lecturer at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (formerly the University of Malawi College of Medicine), and a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Kamuzu Central Hospital, a public tertiary hospital in the Lilongwe, Malawi. He has research interests in HIV and cervical cancer prevention.
