Carroll received a bachelor’s degree in English from Duke University, a master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a master’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked in public mental health and substance abuse settings in Orange County, NC for over 20 years.\u00a0\u00a0Her experience includes work in public mental health centers, local courts, shelters, managed care organizations, and a residential program.
