She earned a master\u2019s degree from UNC Chapel Hill and a Bachelor\u2019s of Science degree in Psychology from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She\u2019s currently a Clinical Instructor at UNC School of Medicine\u2019s Horizons program which serves mothers with their children in a yearlong, residential, treatment program for substance abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Evette is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor and Nationally Certified Counselor. She has over 20 years of experience working with children and families in both school and community settings. Evette specializes in social and emotional assessment and treatment of young children and is trained in several evidence-based models of treatment for infants and children. She currently serves on the state board of the North Carolina Infant\/Young Child Mental Health Association (NCIMHA) and the national board of the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC).<\/p>\n<p>Evette\u2019s research interests include work on parenting interventions, child maltreatment, infant mental health, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and attachment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Evette Horton earned her doctoral degree at UNC Greensboro in the Counseling and Counselor Education Department.
