Jeffrey C. “Jeff” Arscott, MHA, has been named Vice Chair for Administration of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the UNC School of Medicine. His appointment began January 14, 2019.

Arscott holds degrees from Presbyterian College and a Masters in Health Administration from Duke University.  Throughout his 30-year career, he has been a leader in academic health care administration at both Duke and UNC Health Care. He joined UNC Health Care in 1998.

He came to UNC OB-GYN in 2005 and has most recently served as the department’s administrative director, responsible for the department’s clinical and academic financial operations in coordination with the UNC Faculty Practice and Health Care System and department leadership. In this role, Arscott has been an essential part of executive leadership, strategic planning and the facilitation of the department’s financial and administrative goals for efficiency, growth and sustainability.

Dr. Daniel Clarke-Pearson, Robert A. Ross Professor and Chair, says this appointment is a natural extension of the central role Arscott has played in the department’s progression and advancement over the past decade.

“Jeff’s leadership in our academic and clinical missions over the past 13 years has brought continued success and prosperity to our department and has contributed to a constantly improving integration and performance of both operations,” Clarke-Pearson says. “He has contributed years of consistent guidance to all levels of administration, and I am grateful for the deep level of knowledge and service he brings to this role.”

Arscott replaces Kim Schneider who retired from the role in September. He has served as Interim Vice Chair for Administration for the department since October 1, 2018.

“I look forward to the continued opportunity to collaborate with UNC OB-GYN’s world-class team to advance the cause of women’s health and ensure unhindered access to care in North Carolina and beyond,” says Arscott.
